Sussex County ARES teaches and uses the WinLink Global Email over Radio System. The WinLink system is a worldwide radio messaging system that uses amateur-band radio frequencies to provide radio interconnection services that include email with attachments, position reporting, weather bulletins, emergency relief communications and message relay. This is a no internet email system that is worldwide and used by thousands of emergency communication radio operators.

The WinLink System is used by many NGO's and government agencies. This includes not only ARES groups but Military Auxillary Radio System (DOD/MARS), Radio Amateur Radio Emergency Service (RACES), National Red Cross, Salvation Army, US Coast Guard, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and others. Why do these agencies use WinLink? Over a one 15 year period the system demonstrated a 99.99% availability and 100% accuracy in message transmission. Sussex County ARES uses WinLink in our served agencies for it's speed, reliability and accuracy in handling of messages.
