Weekend FCC Amateur Technician Prep Class

Sussex County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (Sussex County ARES) is sponsoring a two day FCC Amateur Technician license preparation class at Sussex Technical High School, 17099 County Seat Highway (Route 9), Georgetown, DE  19947.

Session I will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.
Session II will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

FCC testing will begin at 11:00 A.M, immediately following the conclusion of the second session.

There is no fee for participation in this intensive weekend class.

FCC Amateur Technician is the entry level license class for those interested in the hobby of Amateur (also known as Ham) Radio. Amateur Radio is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together.

Although Ham Radio operators get involved for many reasons, they all have in common a basic knowledge of radio technology and operating principles, and pass an examination for an FCC license to operate on radio frequencies known as the "Amateur Bands."

Participants in the weekend class are required to obtain an FCC Amateur Technician exam guide book and to begin studying prior to the weekend sessions.

Aspiring Amateur Technicians often ask “What do I need to pass the test?”

All that is needed is a positive attitude and some patience.

The folks leading the sessions and administering the exams are dedicated volunteers. They will do their best to get you tested, your exam graded, and upon your successful completion of the exam, prepare and present to you a certificate stating you have earned your FCC Amateur Technician license.

Sussex County ARES held similar weekend license preparation classes over the past few years, and the participants experienced a high rate of success.

When you receive your new call sign from the FCC, you can join 600,000 Hams in the United States and over 2,000,000 worldwide on the amateur radio bands!

Sussex County ARES is an affiliate of The Amateur Radio Emergency Service ® (ARES®).
